Pearson Falls - Two

Joy of a walk on a sunny cool spring afternoon along a stream that gurgles over rocks...what a lovely experience!

The hand of man is evident in a small dam, including some pipes for releasing water below the lip of the dam.

A trail which is totally paved by stones, unless there are too many tree roots

Imagine having a ledge named in your honor

The Frances Lightner Ledge had water dripping off most of it

Very interesting plants along the ledge

the falls cascade in the distance while another small dam creates some pools below

a foundation of a previous bridge probably

Pearson Falls consists of many levels of steps, naturally ocurring, creating tiers of cascades

Someone had a plaque put on a bolder in their memory...well perhaps for more than the boulder

It looks as if most of the stream goes through this chute
I'm glad that it was chilly water, and there were barriers, or if I'd been quite a bit younger I'd have wanted to wade around one of the pools.  It was a lovely walk and not at all crowded on a Sunday afternoon.  Of course once trees are in leaf it will be a different walk completely, so I'll have to try it in the summer or autumn next.

Today's Quote:

Temenos, coming to us from the Greek verb τέμνω, meaning "to cut". ...and it signifies an area of earth or ground forbidden to mundane uses and dedicated to the sacred. The temenos was an important feature of the mythological landscape in early times, at times a shrine, temple or a sanctuary structure made by human hands, but most often an open air enclosure or sacred grove.

  1. It looks like a great place to go for a walk. That old bridge says that it has been established for a long time. I really like seeing all the terrain of the area and the falls are so great to see.
